Remove the Jammed Paper
The screen will prompt you to open the side door and show you where the jam is located. Gently pull the paper out and close the door. If you didn’t remove all the paper stuck in the printer, the machine will tell you that, too. If you need further instructions, please find the picture graphic below.
Inspect The Paper Tray
After removing the jam, and with the machine side door closed, move on to the paper tray. Inspect the ream for paper askew, folds, crumpled, etc and remove the offending paper prior to gently closing the paper tray.
Confirm Paper Guides Are Pressed Against Paper Ream
Open the paper trays, confirm the paper guides are snug against the paper ream. It is highly suggested to remove the entire ream and flip it upside down before putting it back into the tray, then move the guides snug to the paper ream. (picture below)
TIPS TO PREVENT MISFEEDS
Fan the Paper
'Fanning' the paper ream prevents multiple sheets from becoming stuck to each other. If multiple sheets feed through at once, this can cause a misfeed or jam.
Loading Paper
When a stack of paper isn’t aligned properly in the machine, it often causes a paper jam issue.
When adding a ream of paper, always fan the paper, load carefully and avoid overstuffing the tray. It is highly recommended that you initially place half the paper package into the tray. Then load the rest, making sure the sheets on the bottom don’t shift and that the paper forms a tight stack.
Gently Close the Paper Trays
Slowly, but firmly close the paper tray when loading your paper. When you forcefully close the trays, it can cause the paper to skew, which can make it misfeed.
