At times the remote software for establishing the connection between the client device (iPad/Laptop) and your workstation will break. This can be caused by an incoming update, Windows updates, reboot, etc. Normally, you will receive an error message (VNC Server is not currently listening for Cloud connections) on the client device when you attempt to remote into your workstation.

To fix the connection, please check the following;

  • Verify that VNC Server is running on your workstation, this allows incoming connection requests, if it is not running the connection will not work.
    • To determine if VNC Server is running, check the idle program list. This can be found using the > arrow near the clock on the taskbar (image below)
    • If the VNC icon (circled in red) is not present, then it is not running, and needs to be opened up.

    • To open up VNC Server, simply navigate to the start menu and scroll to R for RealVNC (picture below), and click on it to open up the program.

    • The program should open up (picture below), you should see a green checkmark indicating the server is running and open to accepting connections.

    • Please attempt to connect to your workstation using your client device to determine connectivity.

    • If you are still experiencing issues, please contact I.T. by submitting a ticket.
