Shortcut Missing Fix

If the shared network drive is not found on the desktop it can be found under "This PC". To access "This PC" open the folder explorer

Click "This PC" under the tree view found on the left side of the window

Which will bring you to the following window below

The shared drive should be displayed under "Network Locations". If the drive needs to be placed on the desktop this can be accomplished by right clicking the shared drive and choosing from the menu "create shortcut". You will receive an error that "Windows can't create a shortcut here" but can place it on the desktop. Choosing "yes" will create the shortcut on the desktop.

*If the drive is absent from this window, please reach out to I.T. to have it re-added.*

Drive Requesting Network Credentials Fix

Network credentials are required to access the shared drive on every computer, this allows the system to determine whom is accessing what, where, and when. This should rarely come up but in the event that it does please review the following below;

If you attempt to access the drive and a window below comes up you will need to manually insert the credentials to regain access to the shared drive.

*ServicedeskX with being one of the following numbers 2,4, or 9, if the proper username is being used and access is still not granted, please use one of the other numbers listed. At times the account may be locked out due to too many connections.

The password needs to be requested from I.T., this cannot be added to the knowledgebase for security purposes.

If you are getting this message below, please reach out to I.T. to have the network drive remapped.
